Carol Danvers, known as Captain Marvel, is a prominent character in Marvel Comics. She first appeared as an Air Force officer in *Marvel Super-Heroes* #13 (March 1968).
Danvers gained superpowers after being exposed to alien Kree technology during an explosion. This fusion of human and Kree DNA granted her superhuman strength, flight, energy projection, and enhanced durability. Initially known as Ms. Marvel, she later adopted the mantle of Captain Marvel as a tribute to the original male character of that name.
